The Laredo ISD convocation began with musical performances, an invocation and the presentation of colors. Mariachi groups from Martin, Nixon and Sigueroa high schools performed, after which Monsignor James E. Harris delivered an invocation reading from the Book of Wisdom that emphasized wisdom, service and forming the whole child.
The Laredo ISD Police Department presented the colors under Officer Roberto Puente and the combined LISD marching bands performed the national anthem. The U.S. and Texas pledges were led by Daisy Sandoval and Robert Aguilar as part of the ceremonial program. These elements were presented as traditional convocation openings to welcome staff for the school year.
