Lighthouse Point honors 2024 officer and firefighter of the year

The commission recognized two first‑responders Jan. 28 for service during 2024. Police leadership presented Corporal Michael Sirch as the Lighthouse Point Police Department Officer of the Year, citing 28 years of service, multiple patrol and marine‑unit accomplishments and a May 5 incident in which he interrupted a local theft.
"Corporal Michael Sirch has been selected as a 2024 Lighthouse Point Police Department Officer of the Year," the presenting officer said, praising Sirch's leadership within patrol and marine operations. Fire chief introduced Sabrina Albanese as the 2024 Firefighter of the Year, noting her 18 years with Lighthouse Point Fire Rescue, promotion to driver/engineer, new certification as a fire inspector and contributions to the car‑seat program. Both honorees received plaques and recognition letters from state and county officials referenced by staff.
