LAREDO ISD presenters said the district and the city of Laredo installed a new crosswalk lighting system at Sierra Bridal School to improve student safety as the academic year begins.
“As you can see here, this was a collaborative effort in working alongside the city of Laredo to bring this new safety amenity that is going to safeguard our children while they cross the street and come into to the educational facilities at Sierra Bridal School,” Presenter (SEG 009) said. Officials framed the lighting as a safety upgrade meant to make crossings more visible and to signal drivers when students are entering school grounds.
District staff emphasized that the installation is new and asked drivers and parents to treat the signals seriously. “Please Please make sure that you listen to the the lighting that’s up there,” Presenter (SEG 017) said. The presenters noted the crosswalk is intended to reinforce the pedestrian’s right of way and to reduce risk during drop-off and pick-up times.
