The Borough Council on June 8 adopted Ordinance 2026-12 to add no-standing restrictions on the south side of Charles Street from Stanton Street to Lincoln Street and on the west side of Lincoln Street from Charles Street to a point 265 feet south. The South River Police Department reported vehicle stopping and standing in the area caused congestion, restricted visibility, and interfered with emergency vehicle passage.
The ordinance requires borough officials to install signage to make the restrictions enforceable. Mayor and council opened the public hearing on the ordinance and, with no members of the public speaking, closed the hearing and adopted the measure the same evening. The ordinance took effect on final passage and publication according to law.
