Union Grove ISD board reaffirms CIPA compliance, says internet filters in place

At its July 14 meeting, the Union Grove Independent School District Board of Trustees held a public hearing and reaffirmed the district's compliance with the federal Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA). Superintendent Kelly Moore told trustees the district has implemented a "technology protection measure" — an internet filter — across all internet-enabled computers and said filtering may be disabled for adults only for "bona fide research or other lawful purpose" in accordance with E-rate rules.
Moore said the district also meets CIPA's requirements for education and monitoring: "We are filtering as required on all Internet enabled computers whether used by minors or adults," and students in grades K–12 are assigned an online Internet Safety Course through the Region 7 Service Center. Moore told the board there were no requests from the public to be heard on the item. The board took no further formal action beyond reaffirming the district's compliance at the hearing.
