Commission waives bid, approves Shenandoah contract for stormwater maintenance; $150,000 annual allocation noted

Staff said Shenandoah has relevant equipment, prior work in the city and proximity (about six miles). The recommended action would use an existing procurement vehicle to speed work.
"The city administration has allocated approximately $150,000 per year for drainage maintenance, cleaning, and repair," staff said. Commissioners discussed contract details, publication of documents, and the environmental and preventative benefits of regular maintenance. The motion to waive bids and adopt the agreement passed unanimously, 5-0.
Staff said the contract is intended to reduce the need for more costly replacement projects by proactively scheduling inspections and repairs; funds are available in the stormwater fund.
