The Borough of South River closed the public hearing on its 2026 municipal budget on May 11, 2026, after the council voted to read the budget by title only under N.J.S.A. 40A:4-8. Council President Matt DeSantis moved to close the hearing after no members of the public came forward.
Chief Financial Officer Joseph Zanga presented the self-examination required under N.J.A.C. 5:30-7 and certified that the budget met statutory requirements including calculations for debt service, reserve for uncollected taxes and appropriations under CAP law. The council passed Resolution 2026-135 confirming the certification; Zanga signed the certification dated May 11, 2026. The budget hearing and related resolutions were recorded on the consent agenda and advanced toward adoption.
