Ronnie Gittings, the village water superintendent, told the board on April 6 that the village has been hauling water daily because "the well is getting down into the 77 gpm range and can not keep up with the demand." He said crews have flushed hydrants in response to brown-water complaints but have not been able to perform routine hydrant flushing as often because of the ongoing shortage.
Gittings also reported that heavy, concentrated rainfall events have produced plugged drains and culverts that crews are unplugging, increasing operations demand. The board noted the well's construction permit remains under EPA review and no new timeline for increased production was provided.
