Roosevelt Barnes, a former coach, and Aaron Lavender, a lifelong resident, both defended the administrator's record and urged the board to base any discipline on facts. Lavender said the punishment did not fit the alleged offense and that "I think he should be reinstated immediately." Board leadership did not take public action on personnel during the session; the speakers asked the board to let the investigation run its course and to avoid politicizing personnel decisions.
