Board member Darla Myers urged the board on Jan. 13 to address student travel times after a transportation presentation flagged lengthy routes. "We have many buses that students are on for over an hour, and some buses that students are on for well over 2 to 2.5 hours 1 way," Myers said, asking the board not to wait several weeks before taking further steps.
Board discussion noted the district is exploring purchasing additional buses and has drivers in training; members agreed to keep transportation on the agenda as old business until the issue is resolved and logistics for routing and bus procurement are finalized. Administration and transportation staff were asked to provide more detailed briefs in follow-up work sessions.
