A committee member reported to the board that classroom hiring is nearly complete: "All of our classrooms are, staffed," the committee member said, noting only one remaining elementary-level social-worker role at Custer. The committee member added the district processed more than 100 fingerprint checks from Oct. 1 through the end of November to streamline onboarding.
Trustees discussed turnover rates and a planned recruitment/retention hire. Staff said onboarding improvements and in-house fingerprinting have helped reduce lag between hire and start date; the district also uses an external vendor for substitute staffing and has a tentative candidate for the recruitment/retention role but said salary competition remains a barrier.
