The board heard a recommendation and a buyer's offer for the remaining Navarre Field parcel and voted to accept the offer contingent on full board approval at the Jan. 13, 2026 meeting. Real estate consultant Tom Fritz said the offer was $315,000 and that, after closing costs and accounting for a prior parcel sale to Habitat for Humanity (netting roughly $86,362), the district would net about $303,000 from the transaction.
Fritz described the purchaser as a cash buyer with earnest money and no inspection contingency and said the buyer intends to maintain and enhance the site and pursue revenue via leases. Board members asked about continued access for current users (for example, community groups and SMCC) and about where middle‑school and youth sports would practice and play if the property is sold. Athletic staff (Kyle) described alternative plans including using Stone Cove fields, consolidating baseball and softball at the high‑school campus and ongoing arrangements to use high‑school turf for middle‑school football, and said the district's annual cost to maintain Navarre is roughly $65,000. The board voted to accept the buyer's offer contingent on final approval at its next meeting in January.
