Commission OKs purchase of two Chevy Tahoes for police using forfeiture funds

"I do recommend the city commission take the following actions by motion: waive the bid process and authorize the purchase for 2 Chevy Tahoe police vehicles from Stingray Chevrolet for a total of a $107,553.16, utilized in the Florida Sheriffs Association contract pricing, utilized in forfeiture funds," Police Chief Jack said during the presentation. He also presented proposals from the vehicle vendor and the equipment vendor and clarified the funding source as forfeiture funds approved previously by the commission.
Commission discussion was procedural; one commissioner moved to waive the bid and authorize the purchase and another seconded. The motion carried 5–0 with Abby voting remotely.
The purchase replaces two 2017 Ford Explorers declared surplus; the commission recorded the vote and moved on to the next agenda item. The commission did not attach any additional conditions or amendments to the purchase authorization.
