Board told cuts to state '61c' equipment grant and budget delays are squeezing CTE upgrades

Leah told the board that major capital upgrades for CTE equipment have depended historically on a state '61c' equipment funding line that "has been cut out of the state budget now for 2 years running." She said the district still receives Federal Perkins and the State added-cost grant for operations, but the missing 61c line has limited large purchases.
Leah added that the district had not yet received final allocations this year because of delays at the state level and the recent federal shutdown: "So we're kind of operating on an imaginary budget, a projected budget right now," she said. Board members discussed pursuing grant opportunities and industry donations to offset high equipment costs for automation and robotics.
