Monroe Public Schools presents CTE snapshot: 605 students, 15 program codes and funding uncertainty

Leah, the district presenter on CTE, told the Monroe Public Schools Board on Nov. 11 that the district currently has 605 students enrolled in CTE courses and 890 active CTE seats across 15 program codes, 12 of which are on-site at the high school. "We are very, very fortunate in Monroe Public Schools to be able to have 12 of our programs right on-site at our high school," she said, noting on-site delivery allows students to access CTE within the regular school day instead of traveling to a county tech center.
Leah described how seat counts exceed student counts because many juniors and seniors take more than one program. She also emphasized the state 'top 20' rank list and program-quality metrics drive grant allocations: programs with approved industry credentials and higher completion rates receive higher funding buckets. The board discussed how program size, credentialing and progression affect the district's share of federal and state CTE dollars.
