Piper prohibits private staff‑student social media exchanges for school business

Kellen Adams, Superintendent of Piper USD 203, said the district is standardizing how staff communicate with students online so that official conversations occur on platforms the district can archive and parents can access. "School employees may not privately or directly communicate with students through social media for school related purposes," he said.
Adams added that staff may not require students to use social media for assignments or extracurricular activities. District approved social media accounts may continue to post public, one‑way information such as news and event reminders, but direct exchanges must move to approved tools that support oversight and record retention.
