The Palos Heights Water and Sewer Committee voted unanimously March 24 to award the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) network interface installation to Core & Main for $198,943. City Administrator Adam Jasinski said the city received one responsive bid because Core & Main is the exclusive authorized distributor of Sensus products for Palos Heights and the procurement was performed under the requirements tied to a $200,000 DCEO grant.
"We received one responsive bid from Core & Main due to the fact that the company is the exclusive authorized distributor of Sensus products for Palos Heights," Jasinski reported. The committee held a bid opening on March 17; Jasinski and Public Works Director Joe Smith and Recording Secretary Jan Tomaszewski attended the opening because there was no City Council meeting that week due to the election.
Alderman McGrogan moved to award the AMI network interface installation to Core & Main for $198,943, citing the company’s authorized distributor status; Alderman Key seconded the motion and the committee approved the award by voice vote. The DCEO grant requirement had prompted the formal bid process, Jasinski said, and the awarded amount is within the grant funding level recorded in the minutes.
Committee minutes do not record any protest or alternative bid; the record shows the award as a single‑bid outcome that met the procurement steps required by the grant.
