Palos Heights committee approves Harlem Avenue hanging-basket contract

The City of Palos Heights Municipal Grounds and Property Committee voted March 24 to hire Country Landscape & Supply to install and remove 18 hanging flower baskets on Harlem Avenue for $6,746.00. City Administrator Adam Jasinski presented the vendor's five-year track record on the program and the motion, made by Chairman Begley and seconded by Alderman Brennan, passed on a voice vote.
Jasinski described the vendor's work and seasonal schedule, noting, "The flowers are taken down around Labor Day." The committee discussed matching the planter box at Harlem and Route 83 to the hanging-basket color scheme; the planter will require taller plantings but will match the baskets' colors. The contract award was recorded as approved unanimously.
