Because the community garden currently has no wait list, there is no immediate demand; the boxes need deer-proofing, and a do-it-yourself design was forwarded to the Tenafly High School (THS) Green Team to gauge student interest in building the protection.
Debora Davidson of the Tenafly Nature Center suggested the Nature Center could mentor students working on the boxes, and commissioners recommended installing signage once the beds are in use to promote the plots. If the students do not build the deer protection, the commission acknowledged the borough Department of Public Works (DPW) would need to be engaged for construction and installation.
