La Verne library director announces retirement, will serve one more year

Donna Bebout delivered the library report and recapped summer reading programming, noting participation declined compared with the prior year. She described summer events (magicians, story times and a children’s scavenger activity) and presented June and July circulation figures to the board.
During the report Bebout told the council, "I have made a decision and 1 year from now, I will be retiring." She said staff and she will work closely over the next year to prepare for a new director and that she plans to return as a volunteer after taking some time with family. Councilmembers thanked Bebout for her years of service and congratulated her on the planned retirement.
The mayor and council recognized Bebout's long service and moved on to the finance report.
