Board members pressed district IT staff about renewing a PowerSchool student information system (SIS) contract and about alternatives. The item under consideration included roughly $115,000 in core costs plus another vendor figure (about $50,000) for a total in the ballpark of $170,000 for the upcoming year. Boardmembers said they wanted more time to evaluate options and requested vendor comparisons.
IT staff said switching an SIS is a major undertaking and estimated a full migration could take 12–18 months, including migrations and training. The staff noted Aeries as a frequent competitor and said some districts prefer Aeries for certain features; they also warned that many vendors now require cloud hosting. "PowerSchool is still primarily hosted here, which takes a big cost lift off us," the IT representative said, noting cloud migration and security tradeoffs.
