The Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District Board of Education honored the A’s Minor C Little League team and coaches during its June 22 meeting, celebrating the players’ season and the community role of school‑based athletics. President Cancio invited Coach Sam and the team to the podium and thanked coaches Ben Orr and Kyle Palmer for their work with student athletes.
The board also recognized Dr. Joanne Jung, introduced with a biographical summary that noted her rise as an English learner and nearly 26 years of service to the district. The president said Dr. Jung had “secured more than 13,500,000 in competitive grants to establish and expand career pathways” and thanked her for committing “to double our grant portfolio.” Dr. Jung led the Pledge of Allegiance and accepted the board’s appreciation. "Thank you so much," she said after the recognition.
