The Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District Board of Education announced three closed-session personnel appointments during its Aug. 3 meeting. Vice President Langenwalter read the actions taken in closed session and said the board voted unanimously on each appointment.
"By a unanimous vote of 7 to 0, the board appointed Eric Perez to the position of manager, strategic communications at a monthly rate of $11,859," Vice President Langenwalter said during the public meeting. The board also confirmed appointments of Maribel Viera and Enrique Romero as assistant principals at Norwalk High School, at monthly rates of $13,158 and $13,690 respectively.
The motions were moved and seconded according to the agenda and each passed 7–0. The board did not discuss the background materials in open session beyond the announced titles and monthly rates. The superintendent's office indicated it will follow up with any parties seeking more detail.
