Commission forwards several smaller planning items — alley abandonment, orphan-parcel annexation, street rename, and a rezoning inclusion
Summary
At its May 13 meeting the commission forwarded an unimproved alley abandonment (contingent on a 20-foot sewer easement), an orphan-parcel annexation at 3825 W Andrew Johnson Hwy (approx. 1,412 sq ft), a 355-foot street-name adjustment to Lincoln Avenue, and a rezoning request to convert three LB parcels to IB for a miniature golf use; staff recommended approval on all and votes were unanimous.
Several administrative and land-use items were forwarded by the commission in one session on May 13. Staff recommended approval for each and the commission voted 9–0 on the motions.
Items included: ROWC-3168 — abandonment of a 40-foot by 150-foot unimproved alley between MacArthur Street and East 13th North Street, approved contingent upon recording a 20-foot sewer easement requested by Morristown Utilities; ANNX-3161 — annexation of a roughly 1,412 sq ft outlying portion of 3825 W Andrew Johnson Highway and recommendation to zone the annexed portion IB to match the in-city parcel; STNM-3155 — renaming a 355-foot portion of Thomas R James Drive to Lincoln Avenue in advance of a planned traffic signal; and REZN-3171 — rezoning three parcels (combined ~8.33 acres after including an adjacent LB lot) from Local Business to Intermediate Business to allow an amusement enterprise (miniature golf). Each item was forwarded to City Council for action or recorded as a recommended zoning change.
