Commission grants preliminary approval to extend Furrow Drive to create second fire access for Millstone Village

Planner Sabrina Seamon presented MASD-2922, a preliminary plat request to extend Furrow Drive roughly 1,000 feet east to Veterans Parkway. Seamon told commissioners the extension would create the secondary fire-department access required as Millstone Village expands beyond ninety-nine cumulative residential lots.
"Extending Furrow Drive approximately 1000 ft. eastward from its current end point to Veterans Parkway will create the secondary fire department access route needed for upcoming phases of the subdivision development," Sabrina Seamon said. City engineering review preliminarily approved the submitted road improvement plan, drainage and utility easements, but the extension plan did not include sidewalks; staff required sidewalks along at least one side and a developer bond before final plat approval.
Commissioner John Wallace moved to approve the preliminary plat as recommended by staff; Secretary Roni Snyder seconded. The motion passed 9–0. The developer must provide the required sidewalk plan and a bond when seeking final plat approval for this and future phases.
