Planning commission approves Masengill Landing Phase I final plat for 57-lot subdivision

The Morristown Regional Planning Commission voted 9–0 on May 13 to approve the final plat for Masengill Landing Phase I, a residential subdivision comprising 57 lots on approximately 14.9 acres in the R-2 (Medium Density Residential) district.
Senior Planner Josh Cole said the lots range from about 7,800 to 16,000 square feet and the project includes roughly 2,920 linear feet of new public streets. The subdivision received preliminary approval in August 2024; staff recommended final-plat approval as submitted. Secretary Roni Snyder made the motion to approve and the commission carried it unanimously.
The development is located just east of the Masengill Springs development anchored by the Food City grocery store. The approval forwards customary plat-recording steps and utility and street construction coordination with Morristown Utilities and Public Works.
