Day of Gratitude, testing results and school events highlighted ahead of budget vote

Administrators recapped the April 22 Day of Gratitude community service activities, reported state-testing participation (ELA 94.3%, Math 100%, Science 100%), and announced upcoming concerts, DARE graduation and other spring events as the district urged residents to vote May 20.
During the May 12 meeting, Director Todd Gulluscio described the April 22 Day of Gratitude'a district service day that included school-ground cleanups, performances for senior citizens, a food drive, and service projects islandwide. Gulluscio said the district intends to make the event annual and noted that a cafeteria milk machine has been installed.
Assistant Superintendent Jennifer Rylott reported state-testing participation rates: ELA participation of 94.3% (66 of 70), Math participation of 100% (57 of 57) and Science participation of 100% (13 of 13). Administrators also reminded families of upcoming events: the Grades 6'12 Spring Concert (May 15), the Elementary Concert (May 21), DARE graduation (May 13), and the Multicultural Event on June 10.
Gulluscio additionally announced a Senior Day barbecue for baseball and softball on May 20 and said the fall athletic season will start Aug. 25. The team also reported progress toward approving a local fisherman as a vendor to provide fresh fish in the cafeteria through Aramark.
