Parents and students press board on phone policy, campus assignments and AAC support

A graduating senior raised concerns about perceived exceptions at a Kinder‑to‑College event and asked for consistent application of policies and respectful responses. A parent whose daughter uses an augmentative and alternative communication device described repeated school‑day problems and urged the district to invest in AAC training: "It is the equivalent of putting tape over a speaking child's mouth," she said, characterizing the harm when her daughter's device was muted during the school day. Board members thanked speakers and said staff would follow up on the issues raised.
