Michelle St. Andre presented native and non-invasive landscaping standards compiled by Warren County and recommended adapting them to Knowlton’s ordinance language for non-residential development. Members noted the county’s tree standards are handled separately by the county Shade Tree Commission; the proposed landscaping language would apply prospectively to future land-use applications, not to existing planting replacements done in kind.
Tara Mezzanotte was assigned to convert the county document into Knowlton Township ordinance language (removing county references) and circulate the draft to the Commission for review prior to presentation to the Township Committee. The work will be handled as a Sustainable Jersey action item as part of the Commission’s 2026–2027 goals and work plan.
