Barrow County’s Planning Commission recommended approval on Jan. 16 for Rezone 2025-003, a request to rezone roughly 8.63 acres at 546 Blackstock Road from agricultural to R-1 low-density single-family residential, together with a variance for minimum road frontage for a minor subdivision.
Surveyor Zach Garrett said he prepared the plat and that environmental health has approved septic for the proposed lots. Staff recommended approval with specific conditions: the common access drive must meet section 89-11-86(c)(9) design standards, sod and landscaping must be installed in disturbed front yards and the first 15 feet of side yards, residential structures must have at least 2,000 square feet of heated gross floor area, and exteriors must be brick, stone, stucco or masonry siding (or combination). Garrett said the owners accept those conditions and will place them on the recorded plat. The commission voted to recommend approval; the county commissioners will take final action Feb. 11.
