The Barrow County Planning Commission voted to recommend rezoning about 3.43 acres on East Midland Avenue from C-3 (intensive commercial) to R-1 (low-density single-family) to allow three single-family residential tracts. Planning staff described the request as rezone 2024-O32 and noted the parcel and address as presented to the commission. "This is a request to rezone plus or minus 3.43 acres from from c 3 intensive commercial to r 1 low density single family residential to allow for 3 single family residential tracts," planning staff said during the hearing.
No members of the public spoke in favor or opposition during the public hearing. After staff presentation and a brief commission exchange, a commissioner moved to approve the request based on staff recommendations and a second was recorded; the chair then called the vote and the motion carried. The commission's vote is a recommendation; the board of commissioners is scheduled to consider the item on December 10 at 6:00 p.m. at the same building.
