District reports fewer device and bullying incidents but more recorded hate-speech reports

At the same time, staff said reports submitted through the district's anonymous Stop It app and the district's online form declined (Stop It app reports fell from 54 to 33, a 39 percent decline), while recorded hate-speech incidents rose from 78 to 130 incidents over two years. The presenter said only seven repeat offenders accounted for part of the total and emphasized an educational response and updated graffiti-removal protocols. Trustees asked about video retention and were told camera footage is retained 30 days by default and that IT can download footage for longer periods when needed. Trustees also pressed staff to strengthen communication to families and to ensure supports for harmed students were prioritized alongside discipline.
