Shabbecong Mountain Preserve kiosk to be stained; volunteers plan trail repairs and mowing

Green Team members reported maintenance work at Shabbecong Mountain Preserve and a short list of follow-up tasks. Gary Pohorely and Michael Franks purchased stain, brushes, and a padlock for the trailhead kiosk and said the kiosk needs staining and minor improvements; cork tiles or an equivalent will be installed after staining. Marco Matteo and Michael Franks performed trail maintenance on June 2, weed-whacking sections inaccessible to mowing and clearing fallen trees at the west end that blocked the trail.
The group noted more maintenance will be required in June, including continued weed whacking, removal of fallen trees and limbs after a recent wind storm, and mowing of a logging lane and easement on the west end of the Preserve. Volunteers will coordinate supplies and scheduling for the work.
