Trustees discussed multiple Measure G line items for playgrounds and facilities. Board member questions concentrated on additional amendments to Miracle playground contracts that staff said would increase an existing PO by $30,525 and bring the combined project across two vendors to about $69,275.
"This action is going to increase... to $30,000, 30,525," a trustee said during discussion, asking whether the line items represented new money. Staff replied that one item covered labor, the other materials, and that the purchases were procured under a CMAS contract. Trustees pressed why the district had not run independent safety studies or surveyed other districts using the same playground equipment before buying and why taxpayers should pay roughly $69,275 to correct safety issues for equipment installed "barely" a year ago. Staff acknowledged the concerns and agreed to provide additional documentation on manufacturer assurances and prior testing when possible. The board approved the Measure G items a–d and directed staff to provide more safety and procurement information.
