DeSoto Parish School Board opens with invocation naming three families; no agenda revisions

The Chair opened the DeSoto Parish School Board meeting and led an invocation, naming the Shepherd family, the Ford family and the Whittaker family and asking for a special blessing on the school year. "Father god, we wanna thank you for another day's journey," the Chair said during the prayer, and asked for protection for children traveling on buses and for blessings on parents, the superintendent and board members.
Following the invocation, board members recited the Pledge of Allegiance. The Chair asked whether there were any revisions to the agenda; none were offered. The Chair also announced the meeting date as Aug. 6, 2026 at the start of the session.
