At the DeSoto Parish School Board meeting on Aug. 6, 2026, the Superintendent reported a strong start to the 2026–27 school year and introduced the district's new theme, "Growing Together." The Superintendent framed the theme as a way to unify staff, students and families around common goals for learning and character.
The Superintendent said the theme ties into the district's "portrait of a graduate" initiative, which outlines the attributes DeSoto wants students to develop. "Here, we're aiming to make students goal oriented, team collaborator, critical thinkers, global communicators, resilient and responsible leaders, and empathetic listeners," the Superintendent said, listing the district's targeted outcomes. The presentation emphasized community, a positive and caring culture, and innovation in student experiences.
The report highlighted core values — a positive and caring culture, making a difference, high performance and small-town traditions — and described the theme as aligning district messaging and school activities for the coming year. The board heard the report; the Chair confirmed there were no revisions to the meeting agenda earlier in the session.
