Shelter Island board elects Kathleen Lynch president, names Margaret Colligan vice president

At the July 14 reorganizational meeting the Shelter Island Union Free School District Board unanimously elected Kathleen Lynch president and Margaret Colligan vice president and administered Oaths of Office to new and returning officers.
Kathleen Lynch was elected president of the Shelter Island Union Free School District Board of Education for the 2025–26 school year at the board’s reorganizational meeting on July 14, 2025. The District Clerk, Jacqueline Dunning, called the roll; the clerk recorded the vote as “Yes = 6 No = 0 Recusal = 0,” and the board administered the Oath of Office to President Lynch.
Margaret Colligan was unanimously elected vice president immediately after and was sworn in by President Lynch. The board’s actions were taken by motion and roll call after nominations from board members; Margaret Colligan nominated Lynch for president (seconded by Tracy McCarthy) and Tracy McCarthy nominated Colligan for vice president (seconded by Dawn Hedberg). The reorganizational portion of the meeting also included Oaths of Office for newly elected members and the appointment of key district officers.
