Procurement/Animal Control staff told commissioners the solicitation received a single bid that was $5,514.80 over budget and that the additional funds could come from the vehicle replacement fund so the purchase could proceed. "We only came back with 1 bid on it. It was $5,514.80 over budget," the presenting staff member said. Commissioners asked operational questions (backup cameras, temporary use of a purchased temporary box) and staff confirmed a lead time of 400–600 days for delivery of the modular body; the chassis can be used in the interim with a temporary box.
Commissioner (speaker 4) moved to approve the purchase and to cover the budget shortfall from the replacement vehicle fund; the motion carried. Staff will manage staging and temporary equipment until the modular body is mounted and returned from the vendor that fabricates the box.
