Alpine Council approves PetSmart Charities adoption partnership for city animal services

Jennifer Stewart, supervisor for Alpine Animal Services, presented a proposed partnership with PetSmart Charities that would provide on-site store adoption events, a partner database and grant opportunities to support adoption growth and disaster response. She said the program offers marketing support and tools such as RescueWriter and digital adoption software; "There's no minimum number of adoptions to be part of this partnership," Stewart told the council.
Following council questions about logistics and volunteer capacity, Council member Stevens moved to approve the agreement. The council voted unanimously to approve the PetSmart adoption partnership agreement for Alpine Animal Services (one council member absent). The council did not attach new funding at the vote; staff said any grant-funded positions or marketing costs would be handled through separate grant applications and, if needed, later budget amendments.
