District staff presented an update and annual review of the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program, asking trustees to approve updates to the program plan for the 202627 year and highlighting three central goals: biliteracy, academic achievement and sociocultural competence.
Principals and program leads described ongoing efforts to recruit and retain staff, to hold staff and family surveys (target 50% response rate), and to improve vertical articulation between elementary, middle and high schools. Staff said the first cohort of DLI 8th graders numbering approximately 14 students are transitioning to high school and that the district will use placement assessments and coordinated counseling to place students appropriately.
Trustees asked about data, student counts and how the district will present annual review documents; staff said they will provide prior-year comparisons and more detailed data in subsequent reports.
