The Novato Unified School District board opened a public hearing on May 5 to consider naming the turf field at Sinaloa Middle School in honor of custodian Danny Narun. Community members spoke in support, praising his long service, work ethic and dedication to students and staff.
Tina Stone addressed trustees, saying Narun "is the first guy there at school every morning, and he's the last person I leave no matter how late I stay," and called the proposed naming a "meaningful and lasting tribute." Assistant Principal John Mattern described Narun's more-than-30-year presence on campus and urged approval. The board moved, seconded and approved the naming; the clerk recorded seven board votes in favor along with the advisory student votes as noted in the minutes.
Trustees expressed appreciation for Narun's service and the item concluded with trustees thanking speakers and accepting the motion.
