The Novato Unified School District Board of Trustees on May 5 approved staffrecommendations to expel a student identified in the record as student number 25-26-110002 for the remainder of the semester plus an additional semester, citing alleged violations of Education Code sections including 48900(c) and 48900.4.
District staff presented the recommendation to the board, and Trustee Gasson moved to adopt it; the motion was seconded and adopted in a roll-call vote with all trustees recorded as "aye." The clerk recorded the vote during the meeting's procedural items.
Earlier in the agenda the board listed several confidential items that would be discussed in closed session: existing litigation; public employee dismissal, release and discipline; and labor negotiations with the Novato Federation of Teachers and the California School Employees Association. The board also noted an information-only item on a public employee appointment for the principal of San Ramon Elementary School.
