City corrects property description and readies Shirley Marchman Park concept and budget

City staff told the council a previously approved property transfer required a corrected exhibit: a 1970s map had separated the parcel into Tract 1 and Tract 2 but the current parcel is a single combined tract. "We previously approved this property transfer. However, there was one issue with the exhibit," staff said, explaining the administrative error and the need to record the accurate legal description for the transfer to VRDDA and the city.
Councilmembers asked whether the park concept includes amenities such as basketball courts; staff confirmed the concept plan includes basketball courts, green space, a walking trail and that an open house will be scheduled to solicit public input. Staff said funding for Shirley Marchman Park will appear in the budget the council will review on the 18th and that construction is planned to begin next year.
The council agreed to include the corrected resolution on the consent agenda so the property exchange could be finalized administratively and move park planning forward.
