Kermit ISD canvasses May 2 election; Lee Lentz-Edwards re-elected board president

The Kermit ISD Board of Trustees canvassed the May 2, 2026 election at its May 13 regular meeting and approved the canvass as presented. Ms. Cecilia Hayes reported that incumbent Ricky Morales received 13 total votes (nine early, four on election day) and Carlos Quiroz, Jr. received 31 total votes (17 early, 14 on election day); Ms. Hayes administered the oath of office to Trustee Carlos Quiroz, Jr. and to unopposed Trustee Miguel Urquidi.
In the subsequent reorganization the board re-elected Lee Lentz-Edwards as Board President and re-appointed Ramiro Antillon as Vice-President. The board also voted to continue Lorina Lujan as Board Secretary. The superintendent recommended the canvass and the officer slate; motions for approval carried by unanimous recorded votes of the members present.
