Superintendent highlights student work, district partnerships and recommends Dr. Andrew Fenton for director of teaching

Superintendent Dr. Montgomery used his report March 18 to highlight recent student work and community programming, and to recommend a staffing appointment for the district. He said Lake Forest High School choir performed a special song inspired by a Sheridan kindergartner's story and noted other recent student performances and Spirit of 67 grant activities.
"I am pleased to recommend Doctor Andrew Fenton, for this role starting July 1," Montgomery said when introducing the candidate for the director of teaching position. Montgomery said the district received 80 qualified applicants for the role, and that Dr. Fenton — currently a principal in Winnetka Public School District 36 — emerged from a competitive pool for his collaborative approach and curriculum leadership.
Montgomery also described work on principal searches (Cherokee principal interviews and stakeholder sessions), upcoming community events and the district's reaffirmed AAA bond rating from Moody's. He said the district will introduce Dr. Fenton at the April board meeting and formalize the hire in the HR report.
