Illinois direct-admit program starts Jan. 2025; Lake Forest counselors expect earlier offers for some students

Megan Miles told the audience that a new direct admission program will begin in January 2025 and will generate admission flags when students enter basic information and GPA on the Common App. "This is a direct admission program that the, universities of Illinois are starting for students... they are starting right now, January 2025," she said, adding that participating public campuses will update flags weekly from Common App data and will not require essays or teacher recommendations for the flagged offers.
Miles listed participating campuses (Chicago State, Eastern Illinois, Northern Illinois, Northeastern Illinois, Governors State, Southern Illinois Carbondale, SIU Edwardsville and Western Illinois) and said the state education agency ISBE is expected to press for broader participation. She cautioned that Lake Forest's most competitive state flagship universities were not yet part of this initial rollout.
