Kermit ISD board approves finishes for KES and KHS projects; tables epoxy floor decision

Architect Ashlee Horsley of Parkhill, Smith & Cooper presented wall tile, countertop and finish options for the district’s Kermit Elementary School and Kermit High School renovation projects. The board approved a series of material choices including restroom tile color and a new tile pattern for KHS restrooms, cherry wood‑laminate countertops for the CTE Vet Tech lab, concession stand and coaches’ office, a gold‑tone privacy curtain for the nursing station, Kalahari‑colored sinks for locker rooms, Wine‑Red maroon 24‑inch lockers, and matching floor base and accent paint selections for both campuses.
Gallagher representative Todd Lewis asked the board to delay a decision on the proposed epoxy floor at the high school "until ABA can run numbers and bring it back to the board at a future meeting." The board agreed by unanimous consent to table that specific floor decision; multiple other finish selections were then approved by formal motions and unanimous votes.
The approvals were presented as part of the 2023 bond project design work; the board recorded each motion and vote in the minutes. No motions to reverse any selections were recorded.
