Soil & Water Conservation District schedules e‑waste event, reports Envirothon win for Red Creek

Ron Thorn, manager of the Soil & Water Conservation District, reported to the Wayne County Public Works Committee on May 6 that the district has scheduled an e‑waste collection event for June 18–19 and tentatively set a chemical waste collection for Sept. 11.
Thorn said several septic grant applications are currently being processed and that the bid packet for the Port Bay REDI project has been released. He also reported that the Envirothon was held at the Montezuma Audubon Center with 11 teams representing six schools; a team from Red Creek took first place. Thorn characterized the Envirothon turnout as a success.
