Wayne County Public Works Committee approves contracts, budget amendments in unanimous votes

The Wayne County Public Works Committee on May 6 approved a series of contracts, personnel changes and budget amendments during a meeting that ran from 9:00 a.m. to 9:58 a.m.

Superintendent of Public Works Kevin Rooney and Deputy Superintendent Scott Kolczynski presented the transmittals, which the committee recorded as approved 5-0. Actions included authorization to enter into a supplemental agreement with LaBella Associates for construction administration services; authorization to sign a proposal with Lu Engineers for design of the Health Services Building roof replacement; and authorization to award a contract to Cummins Inc. for emergency generator maintenance services. The committee also approved awarding a contract for the demolition of the buildings at 165 Water Street; abolishing a Maintenance Mechanic position and creating a Building Maintenance Mechanic position in Buildings and Grounds; and declaring a vehicle surplus in the Public Works Department.

The committee voted to amend the 2026 budget for snow and ice control expenses and to amend the County Road budget to reflect additional CHIPS funding. Members approved adding funds to existing highway projects, creating ten new highway projects, transferring project funds, closing a completed project, and extending highway department contracts. The committee also authorized an amendment to an agreement with Ecotech NY LLC for emergency work on Crescent Beach.
