Granite School District leaders presented the district's new District Strategic Plan to the District Community Council at Bonneville Jr High on March 11, outlining measurable goals and a set of student attributes the district will track.
Assistant Superintendent Leslie Bell, Dr. Noelle Converse and John Welburn introduced the plan and said it was developed with input from community councils. "This plan was built using feedback from Community Councils," Bell said, then listed the Graduate of Granite characteristics: Academic Proficiency, Communication, Dependability, Respect, Responsibility, Hard Work and Resilience.
The plan sets quantifiable goals, including a target to increase graduation rates and literacy and numeracy proficiency by 1% each year, and ties district priorities to school-level Continuous Improvement Plans (CIPs). District staff described a Student Achievement Leadership Team that will meet monthly to support schools and refine measures.
District presenters emphasized that the plan will guide resource alignment across schools but that local CIPs retain flexibility: schools will translate the district priorities into school-specific goals and actions. The presentation was accompanied by a handout and a staff slideshow provided to council members.
